Navigation adds browser-style back and forward arrows to the interface, which the web app assumes your browser is providing and the desktop app therefore lacks.

Once you have them, going back from an artist page to your search results stops being a small puzzle.

How to enable Navigation

Install YouTube Music Desktop App for Windows, macOS or Linux.
Open the app menu and choose Plugins.
Switch on Navigation.
Open its options entry to adjust the settings.

Frequently asked questions

Do keyboard shortcuts work for navigation?

Alt+Left / Alt+Right (Cmd+[ and Cmd+] on macOS) work as expected once the plugin is enabled.

Why is this not built in?

The app renders the YouTube Music web interface, which relies on browser chrome that the desktop window does not have by default.
