Music Together turns a session into a shared listening room: the host plays a song and everyone who joined hears the same track at the same point, with a shared queue anyone can add to.

It is the closest thing the desktop app has to a listening party — useful for remote friends, study rooms or a shared queue at work.

How to enable Music Together

  1. Install YouTube Music Desktop App for Windows, macOS or Linux.
  2. Open the app menu and choose Plugins.
  3. Switch on Music Together.
  4. Open its options entry to adjust the settings — this plugin is marked beta, so enable it on its own first.

Why does this show as beta?

Sync across networks is still being refined. Expect occasional drift on unstable connections; rejoining the room resynchronises everyone.
