The Ad Blocker plugin removes audio ads, video ads and tracking requests before they ever reach the player, so an album plays end to end without a mid-album interruption. It is enabled by default, which is why the app is often described as a no-ads YouTube Music desktop client.
Two blocking backends are available: an in-player method that strips ad slots from the response, and a network-level blocklist. If one breaks after a YouTube change, switch to the other in the plugin options.
What it does
- Removes audio and video ad breaks between songs
- Blocks tracking and telemetry requests alongside the ads
- Two independent blocking backends you can switch between if YouTube changes something

Frequently asked questions
Do I still need a YouTube Music Premium subscription?
The plugin removes ads from playback, but Premium-only features such as official offline downloads and background play on mobile still require a subscription. Support artists and the service if you use it daily.
Why did ads come back after a YouTube update?
YouTube periodically changes how ad slots are delivered. Update to the latest release first, then try the alternative blocking backend in the plugin options.
